A Bradford pensioner, who died today after she was seriously injured in a collision with a bicycle earlier this month, has been named by police.

Jean Wellings, of Buttershaw, was in collision with a white and green Scott Foil bike at the junction of Halifax Road and Church Street, in Buttershaw, at 11.52am on Sunday November 1.

The 71-year-old died in hospital earlier today, said police.

Officers have issued an appeal for information about the collision.

Detective Sergeant Carole Greaves, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "Sadly the woman's injuries in this incident proved to be fatal and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or the movements of the rider and the pedestrian prior to it."

The 48-year-old male cyclist was uninjured and is helping police with their enquiries.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.

Councillor Angela Tait (Lab, Royds) expressed her sadness at news of Mrs Wellings' death.

She said: "I am really sorry to hear about this. I do not know where it happened or the background to it, but I would like to extend my sympathy to the family.
"It is really sad. It has been a few weeks since the accident, so it must have been a very traumatic time for her family. Most definitely my sympathies go out to the family."

Cllr Andrew Thornton (Lab, Royds) said: "It is very, very sad to hear that she has died. Our condolences and thoughts go out to her family and friends and anyone who knew her.
"If investigations are ongoing, we will wait to see the outcome, but it is a very sad situation."

Cllr Val Slater (Lab, Royds) added: "I would like to express my deepest sympathies to all her family and loved ones. It sounds like a tragic accident, but that does not make things easier for people.
"I would just stress that sometimes you do need to keep a look out for all types of vehicles."
