A VIOLENT street attack in which a gang of youths repeatedly stamped on a man’s head and kicked him in the face has been caught on CCTV.

The shocking footage shows four or five people, who appear to be teenagers, drag their victim to the ground before starting the nasty assault.

After a short while some of the attackers leave, but three continue the onslaught, circling the victim as they take it in turns to beat him.

At one point one assailant repeatedly punches the man in the face, later he is kicked in the chest and the back at the same time.

The incident was captured by the CCTV camera of Andrew Britton who lives near where the attack happened on Ewart Place in Great Horton.

He said: “The man was obviously badly cut, because some of the nearby cars were smeared in blood.”

Mr Britton, a carer, said the attack happened at 6.50pm on Tuesday. He called police shortly after watching the footage, but has criticised their response, claiming he was on hold for an hour when he called 101 and so instead called 999.

Police also missed an appointment to collect the footage the following day, collecting it this afternoon instead.

“It was a 20 minute assault, the man could have serious head injuries. He could be laid dead in his house,” Mr Britton said.

In response, Sergeant Az Khan, of Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The call we received was not in relation to a crime in progress and was allocated accordingly.

"We apologise that we missed the first appointment arranged with the caller."

He said a crime had been recorded, but added: "At this stage we have not had a victim come forward or any other calls reporting any incident at the location.

"We would urge the victim or anyone else with information about this offence to please come forward."

Mr Britton said he and his neighbours were concerned about the condition of the victim.

“Hopefully we will be able to find out who he is and make sure he is okay.

"These kids might have just thought this was a bit of fun - someone needs to get through to them that this is how people can die."

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "The victim was described as a white man, about 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a white top and light coloured trousers and the suspects are believed to have ran off towards Ewart Street."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

The assault happened not far from where Keith Alder was beaten with a baseball bat and kicked unconscious during an unprovoked assault in October 2011. He had his legs amputated after the assault and later died, however a coroner ruled the death was not as a result of the attack.
