A PORTABLE cabin located on a Shipley road was damaged in an early morning fire today.
Fire crews from Shipley and Bingley were called to New Close Road at 1am after reports of a temporary cabin on the side of the road being on fire.
Two hose reels and a fire fighter in breathing gear was used to put out the blaze, but the cabin was totally destroyed.
It was being used by Northern Gas Networks staff, who are carrying out gas works in the area.
The cause is being investigated, although crews believe the fire may have been started outside the cabin before spreading to the floor.
A police spokesman said the cabin was a welfare unit containing toilets and other facilities used by workers.
They said: "Enquiries are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
A spokesman for Norther Gas Networks confirmed it was one of their cabins, but said they could not comment further because of the police investigation.
