ONE of the fathers of rap music, Darryl McDaniels of legendary group Run DMC, will be rapping for school children at Bradford City Library next Thursday.

The event will be part of a comic-themed festival that will see hundreds of free comics handed out to teenagers and young adults across libraries in the district.

The rapper, also known as DMC, will be at the Creating Superhero Characters workshop being held at the library on November 12 as part of the Thought Bubble Festival, which runs from November 9 to 12. The rapper has also recently taken up a second career as a comic book writer. As well as talking to the children about comics he will also be rapping for the crowd.

First rising to fame in the 1980s, New York based Run DMC are cited as being one of the first bands to break through to the mainstream, and are behind such hits as Walk This Way, It's Tricky and It's Like That.

Libraries taking part in the comic book give away are Baildon, Burley, Bingley, City, Clayton, Eccleshill, Keighley, Ilkley, Laisterdyke, Manningham, Menston, Wibsey and Wyke and the books will be available from November 13.

Pupils at Ryecroft Primary School and St Francis Catholic Primary will be attending.
