BRIGHOUSE and Rastrick Band finished runners up in the National Brass Bands Finals held at London's Royal Albert Hall this weekend.

They were the top placed English band but were were pipped at the post by Welsh Band Cory, B&R to get the championship.

The band is still guaranteed its place at next year's finals and will now represent England at the European Brass Band Festival in Belgium in 2017.

Saturday's accolade comes a month after band members came runners-up at the British Open Contest at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. In April next year, the band will represent England at the European Brass Band Festival in Lille.

The next opportunity to see Brighouse and Rastrick Band live will be at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday, October 24 when it will share the stage with the band of the King’s Division. Tickets are available from Kirklees Ticket Outlets and on 1484 223200 in aid of the Royal British Legion.
