POLICE and firefighters were called to Keighley Tarn today after a car was spotted in the water.
The blue BMW M5, which had been stolen from Bradford, was seen by a passer-by this morning. Fire crews from Keighley station checked to make sure there was no-one in the vehicle and left the matter with police.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “We were called to a report of a car in the tarn at 6.52am today
“The car was a blue coloured BMW M5.
“The owner of the car has been spoken to, and it is believed to have been stolen from Duckworth Lane in Bradford some time between 2pm on Tuesday and before 7am today. Investigations are continuing.”
A fire service spokesman said the car was in the water to a level just above its wheels. He added: "It had a private registration and looked quite new."
