THE developer behind the district's new shopping centre hopes to showcase the 'soul' of Bradford in a new TV advert filmed in City Park.

New City Soul is a 30-second television and online advert filmed across Bradford to promote the opening of the £260 million development in two months' time.

Filming took place at City Hall, City Park and Little Germany today.

At City Hall, three models, including one based in New York, showed off some of the autumn winter collections from shops opening at The Broadway, including Debenhams, H&M, M&S and Next.

Three Bradford children aged six to eight were also filmed in the fountains at City Park.

The film crew also visited sites in Little Germany and outside The Broadway complex, but no filming was done inside the centre.

The advert will be screened for the first time on Thursday, October 22, and will be exclusively shown in the Yorkshire area for the following two weeks.

It will also be shown on the shopping centre's official website and its social media feeds in the lead up to the centre's grand opening on Thursday, November 5.

The advert is designed to be a celebration of the city.

Westfield director of marketing Myf Ryan said: "With just two months to go until we open our doors to The Broadway, we are very excited to be here in the heart of Bradford filming our TV commercial which will go live on October 22.

"The campaign is all about celebrating the people who represent the soul of Bradford, so where better to film than in some of the city's most iconic areas?

"We hope Bradfordians enjoy spotting the different locations in the advert and we look forward to welcoming them through our doors on November 5."

Sign-ups for The Broadway include Paperchase, Superdry, Topshop/Topman, New Look, Footasylum and River Island.

The 570,000 sq ft centre, expected to employ around 2,500 people, will be the largest retail centre in the country to open this year and will propel Bradford up the national retail rankings by 59 places to number 26.

The Broadway investor Meyer Bergman has also had permission granted for a six screen boutique cinema in Broadway, with dining and leisure development underneath.

When the cinema plan was approved last month, a Meyer Bergman spokesman said a "high-quality operator" for it would be announced "shortly".
