A MAN has been taken to hospital following a chip pan fire at his Bradford flat this morning.
Fire crews from Bradford and Shipley were called to the incident in Oakroyd Terrace, Manningham, at around 6am.
Watch Commander Mark Rogerson, of Bradford fire station, said the 22 year-old occupant of the flat appeared to have put the pan on before falling asleep.
He had tried to put the fire out himself, but suffered severe smoke inhalation and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for a precautionary check-up.
The kitchen of the top floor flat suffered "significant" damage, with other rooms affected by smoke damage.
"Fortunately the block of flats had a full working alarm system," said Watch Commander Rogerson.
"It's just another warning of the dangers of using chip pans."
