BRADFORD was "flying the flag" for disability sport at an international event in Centenary Square today.

The inclusive sports festival had been organised by Cycling 4 All, a disability cycling and sports club based at the University of Bradford, and including wheelchair rugby in the activities attracted a host of players currently in the district to compete in the first-ever Multi-Ability Rugby World Cup.

Cycling 4 All coordinator Adam Tasker said around 300 people had taken part in the event, also trying out cycling on a range of the group's specially-adapted bikes.

"It was madness, but in a really good way," he said.

"We were really busy, and people jumped on to try the bikes straightaway.

"It was a brilliant experience playing wheelchair rugby in front of the town hall, and loads of the Rugby World Cup teams came down.

"We had players from France and Spain, who all really loved it, and it really added to the atmosphere.

"There was also lots of disability groups taking part, and it was great to meet them.

"The event was really flying the flag for disability sport across the world, which is wonderful for Bradford."
