A FATHER and son appeared in court yesterday accused of threatening work colleagues in Bradford with a shotgun.

David Nichols, 61, and his son, Christopher, 33, were charged with the possession of a firearm - described as a Belgian double-barrelled shotgun - and intent to use the gun to cause harm to Gavin Page.

Prosecutor Richard Davies said the pair, who are both employees at Clean Green Upgrades in Barnard Road, had been involved in an alleged confrontation at the company on Monday morning.

Both David Nichols, of Busfield Street, Bradford, and Christopher Nichols, of Bierley Lane, Bradford, indicated a not guilty plea to both charges.

Mr Davies applied for the pair to be detained in custody ahead of a hearing at Bradford Crown Court on September 1, an application conceded by Mazhar Khan, representing both defendants.

Chairman of the bench, Reverend George Williams, said: "Because of the extremely serious nature of the matters before the court today, this case will be transferred to the Crown Court."
