DRAMATIC footage has emerged which shows armed police detaining a suspected gunman outside a company's offices in Bradford.

Shot on a mobile phone, the film shows armed officers pointing their weapons at a man as he emerges from a company headquarters in West Bowling.

The man is ordered to pull up his fleece for concealed weapons and he is told to put his hands up before he is pinned to the floor by two officers where he is handcuffed and arrested.

Officers can be heard shouting orders at the suspect as they train their weapons on him.

He walks across the road as officers and members of the public look on before he stops at the pavement where he is pinned to the floor.

The dramatic incident happened yesterday morning at Clean Green Upgrades in Barnard Road.

Police said two men, aged 61 and 33, had been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

The arrests followed an alleged incident inside the company's premises just before 7am.

Two members of staff had helped disarm a man who was allegedly armed with a sawn-off shotgun.

Work colleagues Gavin Page and Paul Machen had just arrived at work when they were confronted by a man allegedly armed with a gun.

But rather than running for cover, and with little concern for their own safety, Mr Page and Mr Machen immediately tackled the gunman and an alleged accomplice.

Mr Page, 36, a window fitter, grappled with the alleged gunman.

He and Mr Machen, 37, with help from colleagues, then trapped the men in the building until armed police arrived just over half an hour later.

One of the men was held by staff in a smoking shelter until police arrived.

Both men declined to comment on what had happened.

West Yorkshire Police said two men had been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after armed police were called at 7am.

Officers went got to the scene at 7.38am, 36 minutes after staff had made the 999 call.

Witnesses described seeing seven officers at the incident.

Two men from Bradford, aged 61 and 33, were arrested, and they both remained in custody last night.

A police spokesman said: "Officers also conducted a search of the premises and recovered what was believed to be a firearm. No one was hurt in the incident and enquiries are continuing."

For several hours the business remained cordoned off with an officer stood by the entrance.

A group of staff stood outside the business said they would not be commenting on the situation.

Other neighbouring businesses were surprised when the T&A informed them about the incident, saying most of the companies on the road would not have been open at that time of day.
