A PROCESSION of Jowett cars brought a touch of vintage class to Bradford's roads yesterday as the Jowett Owners Club held its 30th annual reunion of staff.

The cars were produced in Bradford from 1904 to 1954, and the reunion involved owners driving from the company's former site, now the Morrisons supermarket at Five Lane Ends, Wrose, to Bradford Industrial Museum, which has some of the models on permanent display.

The event was even attended by William Jowett, whose grandfather was involved in the company.

Organiser Colin Dennison said about 35 cars were brought to the event, of which 20 belonged to former employees and the rest being car club members.

Mr Dennison said the turnout demonstrated that the appetite for such events was definitely still there.

"It was a cracking day and very well attended," he said. "There was a good selection of cars, the oldest was from about 1913, and the newest from 1954."
