A 99-YEAR-OLD WOMAN who died following a fire at her home near Brighouse has been named.

Hilda Haigh, of Laburnum Grove, Lightcliffe, died from her injuries after a blaze at her bungalow on Saturday evening.

An inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned on Thursday at Bradford coroner's office.

A post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.

Fire crews from Odsal, Cleckheaton and Halifax were called to the pensioner's bungalow at about 10.30pm on Saturday.

The blaze, which was sparked by an electric blanket, seriously damaged the woman's bedroom.

Firefighters rescued the pensioner and she was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where she died.

A police spokesman said the fire was not thought to be suspicious.

A fire service spokesman said the blaze caused smoke and heat damage to the bedroom. He also stressed the importance of having electric blankets serviced.
