AROUND 100,000 passengers will travel through Leeds Bradford Airport next week, which is one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Main destinations are holiday hotspots such as Majorca, Alicante, Algarve, Canaries, Turkey and Greece. The most popular city break destinations are Paris, Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest whilst there was strong demand for flights for short breaks to London, Belfast and Dublin.
Tony Hallwood (pictured), the airport's aviation development director, said recent poor UK weather had encouraged families to seek late deals across Europe in search of some summer sun.
Foreign travel has also been boosted by a strong pound, giving British holidaymakers more spending power abroad.
"Leeds Bradford Airport will also be welcoming an increase in inbound tourist visitors to Yorkshire to enjoy our local hospitality and exploring God's own country on the back of the successful Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire," said Mr Hallwood.
