MOTORISTS are being warned of the overnight closure of the Chain Bar roundabout on Saturday through to Sunday morning.

The roundabout at junction 26 of the M62 will close at 7pm on Saturday and reopen at 9am the next day to enable narrow lanes and temporary road safety barriers to be installed as part of the £5.6 million scheme to add an extra lane to the roundabout.

The closure is part of a Highways England project to widen the roundabout from three to four lanes. During the closure there will be clearly signed diversions in place and all the existing lanes will remain open throughout the day to keep delays to a minimum.

Project manager Esref Ulas said: "This overnight closure will allow us to install temporary safety barriers and narrow lanes which will minimise the disruption to motorists so we can maintain three lanes around the roundabout during the construction works and will also keep our workforce safe whilst they carry out this major improvement."
