POLICE recovered around £50,000 worth of suspected heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine following two raids in Heckmondwike.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply after Monday's raids.

Officers from the Kirklees District Quartz Team and West Yorkshire Police's Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Team, executed search warrants at two terraced properties on Longfield Road and High Street.

Around half a kilo of suspected class A drugs, believed to be heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine with an estimated street value of around £50K were recovered.

Two men were arrested and released on police bail. A 23-year-old man was arrested from the Longfield Road address and a 20-year-old man was taken into custody from the High Street property.

Detective Sergeant Guy Shackleton, from the Kirklees District Quartz Team, said: ‘‘This was a significant recovery of class A drugs that would have otherwise been sold on the streets of West Yorkshire.

‘‘This type of action demonstrates the priority and success local police give to tackling the scourge of drugs and making our local communities safer places to live and work.’’
