FUNDRAISERS at a Bradford riding school ran, rode and shot their way to raising £600 for the city's burns unit.

Throstle Nest Riding School hosted a biathlon and dressage competition event yesterday.

The Biathlon had 15 competitors split into two groups, over and under 18, which were won by Aiden Smithies and Abi Wheeler respectively.

It included a timed cross country competition, which took part around the fields of the school at Throstle Nest Farm, Fagley Lane.

This followed a dressage competition, which was held at the site in the morning.

All winners received Bradford City coloured rosettes to acknowledge the 30th anniversary of the club's fire disaster.

The event was organised by Jeannette Wheeler from the Riding School, who is a Bradford City season ticket holder.

It is the latest fundraiser for the Bradford Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU), based at the city’s university which was set-up after the tragedy on May 11, 1985 where 56 people fans were killed at City's Valley Parade ground.

Fundraiser for the Throstle Nest Riding for the Disabled Group Sarah Hamilton said: "As it is the 30th anniversary of the Bradford City Fire, we wanted to raise money for such a great cause."
