DAME Ellen MacArthur will head a list of speakers in Bradford today to discuss the circular economy.

The retired British sailor turned charity founder (pictured), who is most famous for breaking the world record for the fastest solo circumnavigation of the globe in 2005.

Now, Re-thinking Progress, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s open-house event, held at the University of Bradford today and tomorrow, looks into understanding around circular business models and systems.

The event features seminars, workshops and networking sessions.

Circular economy is a term which includes more than the production and consumption of goods and services, including a shift from fossil fuels to the use of renewable energy, and the role of diversity as a characteristic of resilient and productive systems.

A panel discussion featuring Dame Ellen, Pia Heidenmark Cook, lead on circular economy at IKEA, and Gavin Warner, lead on circular economy at Unilever, will also take place.

It will include the design challenges of the circular economy, building the circular economy into business strategies, and the opportunities offered by using renewable energies.
