FIRE crews from Bradford and Idle stations turned out to a garage fire believed to have started by a DIY project.

A neighbour raised the alarm after hearing the garage's roofing popping from the heat of the blaze at about 10.45pm on Saturday.

Crews were at the scene for about one hour but half the garage in Broom Avenue, Idle, was destroyed.

A West Yorkshire fire service spokesman said: "It wasn't a suspicious fire. The owner had been doing a bit of work in there earlier in the day. We think it was either something electrical or a smouldering rag."
