POLICE are re-appealing for witnesses to a head-on crash on a busy Bradford road which left three people injured.

The high speed impact, in Great Horton Road, caused considerable damage to the two cars, with debris strewn over a wide area.

The accident, at 12.10pm on Monday, involved a white Audi S3 Quattro and a blue Ford Focus. Firefighters had to cut the roof from the Audi to free the driver. The road was closed for more than two hours.

The 31-year-old driver of the Audi suffered a head injury and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

The occupants of the Focus, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, suffered minor injuries and did not need hospital treatment.

Chief Inspector Sarah Baker, of Bradford District Police, said: "Immediately before this officers in a police car witnessed a vehicle being driven at speed and had turned around in order to stop it. Upon doing so they have come across the collision.

"The officers in this vehicle were armed, but were not responding to an incident at the time.

"Any witnesses to the collision who have not yet come forward are asked to contact the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support team on 101."
