POLICE have seized a quad bike that was being used to disrupt football matches in Shipley.

Officers in the off-road motorcycle team were called to Hirst Wood Road, after reports that several youths were riding the bike around a football pitch as people were trying to play.

As the officers neared, the vehicle was driven off towards a wooded area and a young male rider decided to leave the bike and make a run for it.

A police spokesman said: “Using a vehicle in this manner, on a football pitch when it is in use by others, is not only anti-social but very dangerous.

“If the rider was to collide with someone, the potential for serious injury is very high.

“West Yorkshire Police will not tolerate this type of anti-social vehicle use.”
