Sentence is adjourned in rape case
A 22-YEAR-OLD man who admits raping a girl of 12 had his sentence adjourned at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.
Ashley Murphy, of Chapel Fold, Wibsey, Bradford, was remanded back into custody by Judge Jonathan Rose.
Murphy pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to raping the child last November. His case was adjourned until April 17 for a day-long trial of the issue.
Although the Crown did not accept Murphy’s basis of plea, prosecutor Gerald Hendron said the girl’s mother did not want her to go through the ordeal of giving evidence in court.
