MUSLIMS in Bradford are being encouraged to become blood donors, carry organ donor cards and register for bone marrow transplants.

Give a Little of Yourself is the theme for Islam Awareness Week, which runs until this Sunday.

Events include poet and singer Dawud Wharnsby visiting and performing at Lapage Primary School in Bradford tomorrow.

Muslims from the Islamic Society of Britain (ISB) Bradford branch will be visiting the Bradford Blood Centre, in Rawson Street, to register and donate blood.

Islam Awareness Week aims to encourage Muslims to promote social cohesion and work to build a better society.

The Bradford branch of the ISB will hold a bag pack and food collection at Morrisons, Westgate, Bradford, on Friday and Saturday.

Proceeds raised will go to Age UK and food collected will be given as food parcels to the homeless.
