Mohammed Saleem, community relations and education officer for the Keighley Muslim Association, has spoken out against the violent religious extremism of Isis.
“The inhumane and vicious acts being carried out by groups such as ISIS in the name of Islam are not reflecting the true teachings and spirit of Islam,” Mr Saleem said.
“We are very upset and worried upon hearing of the radicalisation of young people by such groups.
“We condemn all acts of terror and are saddened upon the death of innocent civilians throughout the world.
“We pray for peace and security in every country and for all people.”
Mr Saleem has now started an initiative to explain the true, peaceful nature of Islam with Wednesday evening educational sessions at the Muslim Community Centre beside the Jamir Mosque, Emily Street, Keighley.
