A BRADFORD charity was finding out today if it has won a national award for the work it does with families of autistic children.
Barnardo’s Cygnet Service offers support to parents and carers of children with the condition, and has been shortlisted for the Innovative Family Support Award by the National Autistic Society.
The charity holds meetings with parents to discuss the issues that their children may face, and offers advice on where they can go for further help.
Today staff at the charity were in Harrogate for the Autism Professional Awards for the ceremony.
The charity had been nominated for the award by the parents of a teenage boy with autism, who had been helped by the service.
Its methods have proved so successful in helping families they have been rolled out to 120 organisations.
