THE Estonian ambassador to the UK has visited Bradford’s Estonian club to help celebrate the country’s independence day.

Members of the city’s Estonian community came together to celebrate the event at the club’s home in Clifton Villas, Manningham on Saturday night. This year’s celebration was particularly significant, as 2015 marks the club’s 60th anniversary.

Ambassador HE Lauri Bambus attended the special celebration, addressing the crowd about current Estonian issues before the crowd enjoyed musical performances and songs. The nation’s independence day is held on February 24, but the club celebrates it on the closest Saturday.

Paul Ratnik a steward at the club, said: “It was an excellent evening and everyone enjoyed it. Everyone was stood on chairs singing an Estonian drinking song.”

More events are planned.
