ANTI-AUSTERITY protesters made their views known outside City Hall as councillors decided where the axe will fall on local services.
The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) held a demonstration against the cuts, waving placards and banners.
Its West Yorkshire convenor, Iain Dalton, said: “Like many other councils up and down the country, we have got a Labour-run authority that is cutting council jobs and services.”
“We think that when you look at society as a whole, there is money for jobs and for services.”
Mr Dalton condemned a “lack of political will from the government nationally and from local councillors to stand up and defend services.”
And he said councillors should be more willing to “fight for the funds that the community needs”.
He said: “We think councillors should be voting against cuts and should be trying to work out with the community a budget based on its needs.”
The demonstration follows protests last week over cuts to bowling green maintenance and the district’s elite swimming programme.
On Friday, members of bowls clubs from around the district converged on Idle Bowling Club, armed with placards and chanting “Save our Greens”.
And later that day, about 100 swimmers gathered in Centenary Square, Bradford, for a noisy protest at cuts to the district’s elite swimming programme.
The Bradford Council development scheme is under threat in its form, because of funding cuts agreed by councillors last year.
