DETECTIVES are continuing to wait for news from Italy about the extradition of convicted Bradford rapist Wakar Akhtar.
Akhtar, 21, of Hudson Avenue, Canterbury, Bradford, was found guilty at Bradford Crown Court last November in his absence of conspiracy to rape after he fled the country during the trial.
Akhtar (pictured) was driven to Dover by his father and uncle to catch the ferry to Calais, hours after giving evidence to the jury.
He was sentenced, along with his three co-conspirators, to 17 years imprisonment, and the trial judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
