A HAWORTH landlady has been stunned by a Valentine's Day vegetable shaped as if whittled by Cupid himself.

Jo Wilson, who cooks traditional meals at the Old Sun pub, found the heart-shaped Maris Piper just days before the most romantic date of the year.

"I make all my own chips and was rooting in this big bag from Morrisons when out popped this beauty," said Mrs Wilson, who took over running the West Lane pub with her husband, Dave, just before Christmas.

"I've never seen anything like it - it's a perfect heart shape," she said.

The Old Sun is offering steak, chips, wine and roses as a special Valentine's day package, but the amazing spud will be spared the knife.

"I'm certainly not going to turn it into chips, although I did think of slicing it thinly to make heart-shaped crisps.

"But I've decided to give everyone a free raffle ticket and whoever wins can take it home as a romantic souvenir.

"It's a real treasure," Mrs Wilson said.
