ARTISTS as young as five drew a big crowd to the Young Masters exhibition in Bradford Each of its 30 participants, aged five to 11-years-old, received a certificate from the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Councillor Mike Gibbons and Elizabeth Sharp on Saturday.
The exhibition of their work at Kala Sangam’s base – 250 pieces of paintings and drawings and sculptures – was organised by Virginia Knowles, who said the five-month event was a success.
“We had more than100 people there on Saturday,” said Miss Knowles.
“Everybody commented on how professional the whole exhibition was and complimented the mixture of paintings and different media.
“The children were absolutely beaming.
“One thing that impressed me was the Lady Mayoress commented that if such events had happened when she was a girl, it would have encouraged her to take up art.
“That says so much about what we are doing.”
