A GROUP of Bradford students has created an online video channel to help inspire other young people in the city.

The pupils at Grange Technology College have created Our Future TV, a You Tube channel that will highlight the positive things Bradford's young people are involved in, give advice and feature interviews with celebrities and inspiring people who will talk about their path to success.

The channel has now gone live and the teenagers behind it want any young person planning fundraising events or wanting to get their message out to come forward and use the channel as a way to publicise their work to a global audience.

Many of the people involved in the project have been involved in the Barclays Lifeskills programme, which teaches young people skills such as public speaking and interview technique. Then hope to offer similar advice through their short films.

The videos are produced by former student Saif Ali Zaman, 19, who has gone on to create his own company, Blush Media.

Mohammed Usman, 18, has been a spokesman for the lifeskills programme and charity Free the children and this gave him the chance to speak at an event Wembley Arena last year.

He said: "Often in the news you hear bad things about young people. This will be a showcase for the good things like fundraising and to give advice on things like work experience and public speaking.

"A main focus will be showing the journey to success. We'll be interviewing people like Amir Khan to see the journey they went on to get to the point they are at. We want to reach out to as many young people as possible."

Fahim Zaman, 17, said: " We're not just talking about celebrities, it might be interviews with a CEO of a local company, how they got there and what skills they need."

Irfan Masood, 17, said: "A lot of young people think you only need one idea to be successful, but you can experience many failures on the way to success. We want some of the films to let young people know what needs to be done to succeed.

"You see a lot of older people inspiring young people, this channel will have young people inspiring other young people."

Dewan Shuaib, 19 said: "We want to get people out of their comfort zone."

The group has been speaking to pupils in the school about their project and how to get involved, and have opened this invitation to people across the district.

David Jowell, marketing officer at the school, said: "When this group moves on in July we’ll be sad to see them leave as there is an obvious enthusiasm they have. They are a great motivation for other students in the school."
