KEIGHLEY people are being urged to have their say on how future council services could be run.

A further series of consultation events is planned at venues across the district, including Central Hall in Keighley.

Bradford Council leader, Councillor David Green, warns that communities may need to get involved in running some services.

He said: “We want to talk with local people to strike a new deal about what they can expect from local services, their rights and responsibilities and how they and other people could help by doing things differently.

“As the national spending cuts we face are so significant, the way things are done will have to change.”

By next year, the council will have cut its spending by over £170 million since 2011.

And between now and 2020, it is forecast funding for council services will reduce by another £130 million.

The Central Hall event is on February 19, from 10am to noon.
