A BRADFORD school had special guests at their fundraising Christmas dinner and fair.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Mike Gibbons and the Lady Mayoress of Bradford Elizabeth Sharp attended Oastlers School’s Christmas fair.

The event at the Flockton Road school not only featured a festive three-course lunch but also numerous stalls selling goods.

A baking competition was also held, alongside a raffle.

Horbury Victoria Brass Band also played a selection of Christmas carols.

More than £300 was raised from the event which will go towards a fund to pay to take 18 students on a trip to Paris next July.

Head teacher Lyndsey Brown says it was a good event to unite parents, students and the community.

She said: “It was a really lovely community event.

“It was about bringing the whole school and parents together. It was even bigger than last year’s Christmas fair.

“It was particularly good to have the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress here for the lunch.”
