A WOMAN has told a jury of her shock more than 30 years ago when she surprised two children 'having sex on a settee.'

The witness was giving evidence in the trial at Bradford Crown Court of Shabir Haider, 48, who denies eight allegations of indecent assault when he was a boy.

Haider, of Branby Avenue, East Morton, is accused of abusing a girl two years his junior on numerous occasions between 1977 and 1981, when he was aged 11 to 14.

His alleged victim, now a woman in her mid 40s, said Haider was horrible to her when they were children and touched her indecently at his then home in Heaton, Bradford.

Yesterday, the witness, a relative of Haider, said she had been hanging out washing in the back garden in August, 1981, when she saw Haider and the girl in a sexual position.

She said the three of them were often alone in the house but she would be busy doing domestic chores.

She told how she opened the dining room door and was shocked to discover Haider lying on the settee and the girl sitting on top of him.

"They stood up when I opened the door. The girl looked upset. He begged me not to tell and said it would not happen again," the woman said.

"I was so shocked," she added from the witness box.

The woman said she knew the date of the incident because she wrote on her calendar that she saw the children 'having sex on the settee'.

She said the girl told her several days later that it had happened many times before.

The witness told the court the two children were often alone together in the box room at the house.

The alleged victim told the police in 2012 that Haider had abused her over a four year period more than 30 years ago at his family home.

She broke down in her video interview when she described how he made her skin crawl when he touched her.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said the abuse made her feel disgusting.

"Wherever I was, he would come and find me," she said.

She alleged Haider would rub himself up against her and simulate sex with her, making her feel sick.

He abused her while she was sitting partially clothed on a kitchen unit, she said.

Haider told the police the girl was lying and he never did anything wrong towards her.

The trial continues.
