A GIFTED accountancy student who thought it “cool” to be a drug dealer has swapped his dream of a lavish lifestyle for the reality of a prison cell.

Mohammed Faisal, who achieved a “shedload” of GCSEs but abandoned his university course, was yesterday jailed for 21 months.

Faisal, 23, of Roslyn Place, Great Horton, Bradford, was caught transporting heroin in a black Ford Focus in West Bowling, Bradford, on February 3. Police seized 24 wraps of the Class A drug hidden down his sock and £445 cash.

Faisal admitted possession of heroin with intent to supply and possession of crack cocaine.

His barrister, Andrew Dallas, told Bradford Crown Court Faisal achieved 15 GCSEs but gave up his accountancy course in his second year at university. He found his new role as a sales assistant at Argos “unfulfilling”.

“He thought it would be cool to be a drug dealer, having seen how some of them lived, but he got into serious trouble within a matter of days,” Mr Dallas said.

Faisal, now a takeaway delivery driver, was a hard-working man with great potential who would find prison terrifying, the court was told.

But he also told his probation officer he hoped drug dealing would reap a lavish lifestyle.

Judge Jonathan Rose said it was a depressing tale and warned him to stay away from crime.

“The supposed glamour of a drug dealer will get you a sentence only measured in years next time,” he told him during sentencing.
