PUDSEY MP Stuart Andrew held a “Mini-Parliament” event at Fulneck School where pupils debated issues including the EU and footballer rapist Ched Evans.
Conservative Mr Andrew, pictured during the event, said: “I was really pleased with the quality of the debates from all the students at Fulneck.”
Head of Student Development at Fulneck School, Rob Potts, said: “It’s important young people are actively engaged with politics and it was really pleasing to see our students debating a range of issues." with genuine passion and some extremely intelligent insight.”
Year 11 student, Megan Freeman reflected on the debates, which decided that the voting age should be lowered to 16 by saying: “The Youth Parliament was a thought-provoking afternoon; it was overwhelming to see how many contrasting views could be express”.
