A BUILDING in Bradford is going back to its roots by reopening as a pharmacy and the owners are trying to trace photos of its past.

The site at 46 to 48 Duckworth Lane has a long history as a pharmacy, possibly for more than 80 years, and the new owners are appealing for those in the area to come forward with old photos of the shop. It was previously owned by H C Priestley, later being taken over by E&M Hazelhurst, before becoming a Lloyds Pharmacy, although it has been left empty for the last year or so.

Pharmacists Atique Rafiq and Ajmal Amin, of Sahara Pharmacy, will open in the renovated shop on December 1, having been operating from a smaller premises on the opposite side of the road for a number of years.

Mr Rafiq said: “We started from scratch and have built up the company to the point where we need to move to bigger premises so we can create a more modernised pharmacy. But we have been struggling to get hold of any photos of the building and the area going back the 80 years it has been a pharmacy.”

Anyone who might be able help with old photographs can contact the pharmacy on (01274) 480588.
