YOUNGSTERS across Bradford can win the chance to be a firefighter for the day by entering a Christmas fire safety poster competition.

Organisers are hoping by taking part in the competition children will also get the message about them and their families staying safe from seasonal dangers which can include candles and fairy lights. Year Five pupils in schools across the district are being encouraged to get their pens and paper out and come up with ideas for A4 sized posters.

The prize is a trip to a fire station with a friend and parent in the new year where they will get to try on a firefighter’s kit, squirt a hose and check-out a fire engine.

Scanned posters can be e-mailed to public.information@westyorksfire.gov.uk or hard copies can be sent to Public Information, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Bradford Road, Birkenshaw, BD11 2DY.

The deadline is Monday, December 15.
