FUNDRAISERS took to the Valley Parade pitch on Saturday to present a cheque to the Bradford burns unit appeal.
The half-time presentation to the Bradford University Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU) was a kick-off for the recently-announced campaign to raise £300,000 for burns research work, ahead of the 30th anniversary of the Valley Parade fire.
So far, about £37,500 has been raised, with donations including ones from the Premier League, Bradalona FC, FYSA Theatre Group, BCFC Community Foundation, ice-bucket challenger Richard Walker, and those who took part in a Three Peaks walking challenge.
The presentation, which took place at half-time during City’s 1-1 draw with Gillingham on Saturday, saw Alan Tay of PSBRU accept a cheque from representatives of the community foundation, the Three Peaks challenge, Bradalona FC, and FYSA Theatre Group.
All the nation’s top football clubs will join Bradford City to mark the 30th anniversary of the Valley Parade fire next year with a minute’s silence before all matches on the weekend of April 25 and fundraising work at the grounds to support the PSBRU.
