MANY of the new developments in North Parade and the surrounding area have applied for financial support from Bradford Council’s £35 million scheme to support new and existing businesses.
David Robertson-Brown, of Gumption, works under contract for the local authority to provide Growth Zone business support.
“It’s very important to the city centre renaissance to stimulate clusters of hospitality businesses, creating mini-destinations where people can visit several establishments in one attractive area without having to walk too far,” he commented.
“North Parade and Westgate are emerging as areas where people can enjoy a lunchtime offer and a great night out.
“All the independent businesses need each other and this collaborative approach is working.
“I would stress that demand for the remaining empty units is still very strong with properties being snapped up daily.
“Now the clock is ticking, though, and we have to be very selective about which companies receive financial support. After many years of struggling, it is a fantastic position for the city to be in.”
