A MAN has been issued with a police warning over the use of quad bikes in the Thorpe Edge area, even though police did not find any.
Officers were called by the public, but when they arrived, the bikesquads had gone.
However, a member of the public told officers they had been stowed in a van and passed on the registration number. They traced the van and a man who was still covered in mud, which he could not explain, though he protested his innocence.
He eventually conceded to riding a friend’s bike and was issued with a warning, which means officers will be able to seize the machine if he is caught again.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Even though we didn’t trace the vehicle that was causing the nuisance, we did trace the vehicle that was transporting them around. Due to this The male was issued with a warning. We will not tolerate people coming from other parts of the City causing a nuisance in the Thorpe Edge area.”
