HOUSEBUILDER Redrow has reported rising orders and prices, in spite of the return of a more “traditional” autumn housing market.

The firm, which is building 330 new homes on the former Clariant – originally Sandoz – site in Horsforth, said its order book lifted by 10 per cent to £465 million in the first 19 weeks of its financial year, with average selling prices up four per cent at £284,000 due to a better geographical mix and house price inflation.

The update comes after Halifax said house price growth fell in October to its weakest level in two years.
