FREE wifi is coming to a host of public buildings across the district.
To start with, the wireless internet hotspots will be set up at seven libraries. In Bradford, people will be able to enjoy free wifi at libraries in Shipley, Ilkley, Laisterdyke, Keighley and Silsden, as well as two in Bradford city centre.
A further 30 wifi spots will be announced at other public buildings shortly, a spokesman for Bradford Council said.
Today’s announcement forms part of the Government’s plans to see more than 1,000 public buildings in cities across the UK offering free wifi, under its SuperConnected Cities programme.
Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey said: “The digital landscape of the UK is undergoing a period of tremendous improvement and is all part of the Government’s long-term economic plan.
“For business, visitors and the UK public, accessing wifi in our cities is absolutely vital.”
