A POLICE officer is believed to have sustained a broken thigh following a road crash in Bradford as he attempted to respond to an emergency call.
Exact details of the circumstances of the collision remain vague but West Yorkshire Police said the officer was driving one of the force's Vauxhall Corsa cars when it was involved in a collision with a blue Audi A4 saloon in Tong Street.
The collision happened just before 3.50pm today and the road was closed for around 90 minutes, leaving traffic backing up as police diverted rush hour traffic away from the scene.
Bus routes were also affected by the road closure, which was cleared by around 6.30 pm.
An occupant from the Audi sustained a head injury and two other occupants also had minor injuries.
The officer involved is understood to have been responding to help a man thought to be involved in a diabetic episode.
None of the injuries are thought to be life threatening and the collision is expected to be referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, which is standard practice where police vehicles are involved in incidents on the road.
