THE new police inspector for the Bradford South Area Neighbourhood Team says his new role makes him feel like he is “coming home”.
Kevin Pickles, who takes up his new role today, grew up in the Bradford district and began his West Yorkshire policing career at the old Odsal police station in 1993.
And Insp Pickles spent three and a half years in charge of the city centre neighbourhood policing team until May 2012.
After leaving that post he took charge of a prison hub based at Shipley where police work closely with prisons to help offenders keep out of trouble when they are released.
Insp Pickles, 40, has also spent time as an acting Chief Inspector for the Bradford District, and in his previous roles he has played a major part in tackling drink-related violence and anti-social behaviour in Bradford city.
