PUPILS at Wibsey Primary School tried to impress judges in a talent competition today.

Fourteen acts from years one to six battled it out in front of their fellow pupils in the hope of being crowned overall winner of Wibsey’s Got Talent.

The acts were selected from 140 hopefuls in auditions at the school in the style of the popular television show Britain’s Got Talent.

The finalists included singing groups, solo performers, dancers, musicians, a comedian and a pupil performing magic tricks.

Nicole Cooper, personal, social, health and citizenship education coordinator at the school, said: “The Wibsey’s Got Talent event and the Magnificent Me session both help pupils explore things like seeing potential in themselves and others and think about setting goals for the future.”

The first Wibsey’s Got Talent was held last year and pupils enjoyed it so much the school is holding another competition.

Head teacher Nigel Cooper, who headed up the panel of judges at the event, said: “Last year’s Wibsey’s Got Talent was a huge success and the children wanted another chance to shine so we decided to do it again.”
