A POLICE probe into complaints after Bradford West MP George Galloway said the city should be an "Israel free zone" has concluded there is insufficient evidence to support any charges against him.

A video of Mr Galloway making the comments at a Respect Party event in Leeds on August 2 attracted condemnation from residents and political figures, including Bradford Council leader David Green, in the city.

But although West Yorkshire has recorded the incident as a "hate incident" they will not take it any further.

Chief Superintendent Paul Money, Leeds District Commander, said: "West Yorkshire Police received a number of complaints about the content of a speech made by Bradford MP George Galloway on August 2 this year.

"A full investigation has been carried out which included Mr Galloway being voluntarily interviewed under caution.

"A file was submitted to The Crown Prosecution Service for advice on whether any offences had been committed and they have now concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support any charges."
