A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being plucked from the canal in Saltaire tonight.
Police, fire crews and the ambulance service were called at about 8pm to reports of a person in the water near Salts Mill.
The woman's condition was not clear tonight, although she was believed to be in a life-threatening situation.
A police spokesman said tonight that the woman - believed to be aged in her 50s - was still alive, and added: "A female has been taken from the water and has been taken to hospital."
Fire crews from Shipley, Bingley and Idle stations helped get the woman out of the canal.
A spokesman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said an ambulance, a clinical supervisor and a doctor were sent to the scene after receiving a call at 8pm to say someone was in the water.
