BRADFORD'S health watchdog has called on those affected by Bradford Council's home care cuts to speak out.

Andrew Jones, manager of Healthwatch Bradford and District, said the organisation did have concerns about how the changes were affecting people.

Mr Jones (pictured) said: "Restricting services can mean that people only get the right service once their condition has reached a really serious level.

"The impact on the most vulnerable people makes it more important than ever to listen to the views and experiences of service users.

"Healthwatch would encourage people to speak out if their care package has been affected by the change or they have not been able to get the help they need."

Mr Jones said the Healthwatch Bradford and District Board had made social care - and particularly home care - a key priority for this year.

He said: "We’re actively gathering views from people about their experiences.

"We will share our findings with the local authority to make sure that the voices of real people are heard by those making decisions about these vital services."

The Council's health and social care scrutiny committee will discuss the impact of the changes at a meeting at City Hall today.
