A GROUP of teenagers has been selling sweet treats to raise money for a cancer charity.

Students from Woodspeen Training held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support yesterday.

The group of 18 students sold cakes and drinks at Howard House, Bank Street, to raise cash a day before the charity's national World's Biggest Coffee Morning fundraiser today.

The group, aged between 16 and 18, hopes to have raised at least £100.

Woodspeen Training offers apprenticeship programmes in a host of areas including health and social care, IT, and childcare.

Study programme tutor Angela Allen said: "Part of their course is to make them more socially aware.

"We tried to raise as much money as we can. We are hoping it might be the beginning to get involved in fundraising for other projects.

"It is good for them, as they get to work as part of a team."
